Wild Stallion
The other night, I was watching a movie about a wild stallion. No matter what the men tried to do to break this horse’s spirit they just could not do it. The stallion was determined to get back to his family. There was not going to be anything that was going to stop him. The stallion was tied to a post and kept from food and water for three days, men climbed on his back to break him, he was placed with other horses to work by pulling a train up a mountain and even in his chains he broke free. I know it was a movie, but it amazed me how the writer had made this horse so determined to push through his problems.
I believe us humans forget how to fight. Mothers get tired of always picking up their child's toys, cleaning diapers, vacuuming their rooms, and coming up with some new ideas for dinner. Dads get tired of hearing how the kids got in trouble at school and they need to hear something wise from dad. However, dad is tired from working a twelve hour shift at the mill. He just wanted some peace and quiet. We get tired, exhausted, and perhaps lose sight of what is really important to us and we need to get back to the basics of family.
I am no saint. I could write a book on what not to do as a parent. My children would probably first in line to get my autograph too. I have an opportunity to have a "do over" with my grandchild. However, I want to encourage moms and dads today to take the time with your child. Enjoy your creation and not treat them like a thorn in your side. They are little people and they are precious.
~Be encouraged. Be a stallion in their life by being strong and courageous, stand firm when you need to, push through the difficult times, and enjoy smelling the roses when they come around. Make memories that will last a life time of good times.
