A few years back, I had a special
lady in my life that taught me to dream. I had forgotten how to just dream of
what I wanted to do or be when I got older. My life definitely did not turn out
the way I had hoped, dreamed, or even talked about. It wasn't easy to remember what I wanted to
do when I "grew up."
Therefore, I had to make new dreams.
I watched this woman in my life talk
to others. I witnessed her encouraging them, cheer them on, teach and train them to be more than
just a number in life, more than just a name tag, but to truly be some thing
more.
I remember telling her "I want
to inspire people like you do." I want to be an inspirational speaker like
you are." I can hear her voice respond to this day with, "you
will."
God has opened a door for me to
inspire others to link arms, hold hands, and move forward in showing God's
compassion and offer hope to the homeless and the less fortunate in our
community. Prior to the moment I did not know what I am going to say. I know
what I want to say and I know the plans that are laid out for the shelter, but
to say "inspire" them to join hands with us? No that I leave up to God.
This mission He has me on, is His
idea, His best laid plans. He knows who will be inspired to join us and who
won't. I leave that up to Him.
I know the story of
"Laura" in my life will be an example of why I have chosen to start
The River Inn Homeless Shelter. If you have not read my entry on Laura, search
for her on my blog and read about her. God used her to inspire me to move
forward with His plan on the homeless shelter. Since that day, my life has not
been the same.
I want you to know that whatever you
dream comes from God. He is the dream giver. There is always someone ready to
encourage you to move forward and step out in faith to begin making your dream
happen. I am that person today. You have
a dream? You need a dream? Go dream and I will be the one to say "you will
do it." Don't let anyone stop you.
You will have haters, but don't let that stop you. Keep moving with one step at
time. It will happen.
~ Be encouraged ~ you can do it!
