Wild Stallion

The other night, I was watching a movie about a wild stallion.  No matter what the men tried to do to break this horse’s spirit they just could not do it. The stallion was determined to get back to his family. There was not going to be anything that was going to stop him.  The stallion was tied to a post and kept from food and water for three days, men climbed on his back to break him, he was placed with other horses to work by pulling a train up a mountain and even in his chains he broke free. I know it was a movie, but it amazed me how the writer had made this horse so determined to push through his problems.

I believe us humans forget how to fight. Mothers get tired of always picking up their child's toys, cleaning diapers, vacuuming their rooms, and coming up with some new ideas for dinner. Dads get tired of hearing how the kids got in trouble at school and they need to hear something wise from dad. However, dad is tired from working a twelve hour shift at the mill. He just wanted some peace and quiet. We get tired, exhausted, and perhaps lose sight of what is really important to us and we need to get back to the basics of family.

I am no saint. I could write a book on what not to do as a parent. My children would probably first in line to get my autograph too. I have an opportunity to have a "do over" with my grandchild.  However, I want to encourage moms and dads today to take the time with your child. Enjoy your creation and not treat them like a thorn in your side. They are little people and they are precious.

~Be encouraged. Be a stallion in their life by being strong and courageous, stand firm when you need to, push through the difficult times, and enjoy smelling the roses when they come around.  Make memories that will last a life time of good times.

Inspiration to Inspiration

A few years back, I had a special lady in my life that taught me to dream. I had forgotten how to just dream of what I wanted to do or be when I got older. My life definitely did not turn out the way I had hoped, dreamed, or even talked about.  It wasn't easy to remember what I wanted to do when I "grew up."  Therefore, I had to make new dreams.

I watched this woman in my life talk to others. I witnessed her encouraging them, cheer  them on, teach and train them to be more than just a number in life, more than just a name tag, but to truly be some thing more.

I remember telling her "I want to inspire people like you do." I want to be an inspirational speaker like you are." I can hear her voice respond to this day with, "you will."

God has opened a door for me to inspire others to link arms, hold hands, and move forward in showing God's compassion and offer hope to the homeless and the less fortunate in our community. Prior to the moment I did not know what I am going to say. I know what I want to say and I know the plans that are laid out for the shelter, but to say "inspire" them to join hands with us?  No that I leave up to God.

This mission He has me on, is His idea, His best laid plans. He knows who will be inspired to join us and who won't. I leave that up to Him.

I know the story of "Laura" in my life will be an example of why I have chosen to start The River Inn Homeless Shelter. If you have not read my entry on Laura, search for her on my blog and read about her. God used her to inspire me to move forward with His plan on the homeless shelter. Since that day, my life has not been the same.

I want you to know that whatever you dream comes from God. He is the dream giver. There is always someone ready to encourage you to move forward and step out in faith to begin making your dream happen.  I am that person today. You have a dream? You need a dream? Go dream and I will be the one to say "you will do it."  Don't let anyone stop you. You will have haters, but don't let that stop you. Keep moving with one step at time. It will happen.

~ Be encouraged ~ you can do it!

"You Mean the World to Me"

Those five words had me in tears.  My sister who is fighting against cancer that is not curable said these words to me. I can remember someone saying that to me before. However, hearing it today really blessed me and my heart is full of joy.  Her words told me, "If you were to die today, my world would not be the same."

I know that God loves me and loves me that way.  My life changed when I accepted the truth that Jesus loved me so much He died for me.

Have you missed having someone love on you today? Have you been so bruised by hurt words from a friend, a spouse, a child, or someone else?
Do you wonder if you were to die today that someone else's life would not be the same?

I have a friend  that has not spoken to her son in over 10 years. She has no idea where he is. The last time they spoke, they had a heated argument. She does not know if he is dead or alive, on drugs or off of drugs, healthy or unhealthy.  No matter where he is and what he is or is not doing, she loves him. My friend prays for her son every day. He still means the world to her, but she cannot physically offer forgiveness to him. Her response to the situation is,"God knows."

Yes, God does know.  God knows your hurt, your need, your desire to be loved so much that you mean the world to someone. Your hurt is not so deep that you cannot be reached.

Be encouraged, someone does love you and you mean the world to them.  If you have fallen away from your family, reach out, there is always forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
